It’s been too long – Summer update!

It’s shaping up to be a great summer!!

Rocco is recovering well from his fourth sarcoid removal surgery.  He is just back to full work now and we are both loving it!!  I’ve missed riding him since Bromont, he is one classy horse.  This time we have a serious plan of attack.  I’ve been sending his surgeon, Dr. Natalie Cote weekly pictures.  He’s on an weekly vaccine as advised by Dr. Usha.  And he now has his own homeopath!!!  So…..fingers crossed that we have more success this time!!

It’s been great being home and helping all my students again!!  We have been to 4 events in Ontario thus far with some pretty good results.  Notable results have been:

Gabby and Franklin winning the training at Dreamcrest.  Their new partnership is really coming together and they are bonding well!!

Michelle and Casper have finished 2 events on their dressage score and finished 4th at Dreamcrest.

Nikita and Felix just had a win at Will O’ Wind this past weekend!  Nikita is doing her co-op at the farm this summer, and is therefore in Dressage boot camp.  It paid off last weekend as she led the event from start to finish!!

Sean McIntosh and his horse Tyler have moved into the barn for the summer.  They have improved dramatically over their time here and have had 2 top 5 placings!!  (I personally think, he’s one lucky guy to be surrounded by our barn of fantastic ladies!!)

Missy (Manny’s full baby sister) has been very consistent in all 3 phases.  Top placings at all shows and a win last weekend have put her in the good books!!  I think she has the potential and attitude to be a top horse!  Aside from Manny, she is hands down Sandra’s favourite!!!

IndyIndy (Bonner’s Chief II, homebred) has been successful at 3 of his 4 preliminary’s this year, wining the Dreamcrest event.  This past weekend he ran out at the skinny arrowhead, got nervous and didn’t want any part of it, so it’s off x-c schooling for us this week!!

I spent one weekend in London teaching a clinic and judging their combined show.  It was good for me to remember what dressage is like from the judges point of view!!

We have  had one training camp with David this summer.  It was nice to have some guidance again and get more ideas of what to work on.  This time I took Shaggy and Indy.  It was really good to have a lesson on one of the younger horses, as most lesson time is spent on the upper level guys.  I’m looking forward to David’s return in August before Richland Park.

Rocco and Shags will run an event in Ontario and attend a jumper show on their way to Richland on their path to Fairhill CCI** and CCI***.

Congrats to Elyse on her new OTTB, Dan.  He is very good to her, deciding to dump me last week instead of her!!!  He jumped his first jump this week!!!

Our next competition is next weekend at Grandview.  We have 6 in the Preliminary, 4 of them upgrades!!

My summer hobby has been a vegetable garden!!  We finally got to eat out of it last night….delicious!!!
